SNAPSHOT
Art education projects
July 04, 2008
Snapshot takes its inspiration from the open-ended questioning approach used by Sophie Calle
in the creation of Take Care of Yourself. It offers participants an opportunity to respond to
the exhibition making use of their own artistic approach.
Taking part in the project
Each participant receive a disposable camera. A sentence from the break-up letter is printed on each camera. Mirroring the approach used in the creation of Take care of yourself, participants are asked to interpret the sentence provided and use it as a starting point
for their Snapshot photography project. Participants are given one week to use disposable cameras to create images inspired by the sentence provided on their camera. Two photographs from every camera will be selected for a exhibition at DHC/ART.
Two photographs of each participant will be presented in slide format at DHC/ART and on the accompanying website. At the end of the project all participants will receive their two slides as a gift and the negatives for their entire role of film.
