Where are we going ?
Art education projects
May 01, 2009
The project
The art education project is inspired by the artist Michal Rovner’s artistic approach. It is offered in conjunction to the exhibition Particles of Reality, an exhibition comprising Michal Rovner’s recent works, presented at DHC / ART from May 22 to September 27, 2009.
This project encourages participants to respond to themes presented in the artworks and techniques used by Michal Rovner. In many of her artworks Rovner examines the nature of the individual within a group, the nature of collectivity, social space and
human existence.
Creating a project
Participants take part in an interactive visit of the exhibition accompanied by DHC / ART educators. Afterwards, in the education space, they are asked to reflect on the question “How are we, together?”. DHC / ART educators will speak with participants about their impressions of the artworks and topics related to human existence and behaviour.. Participants will then view a selection of film clips of humans moving in choreographed and free groups. During the viewing, participants are asked to use charcoal and paper to sketch human features and gestures that appear significant to them. Participants use their skills and personal vision to respond to question.s related to human movement and relationships. At the end of the workshop, participants can use tracing paper to transfer their artworks.
This art education project is a hands-on workshop. Completed projects will be photographed and subsequently exhibited in the DHC / ART on-line gallery and in the Education Space. The public can view the participants’ artworks by visiting www.dhc-art.org/education
This free art education project is offered solely to groups.
The exhibition
Michal Rovner’s artwork includes video projections, installations and sculptures. She photgographs, and video records images and re-works them and changes details such as scale and colour often creating repetitive patterns.. Through her lens, human forms are observed and represented from a distance. The themes of human collectivity and the uncertain bonds that connect the human race and compel it to move together are at the core of Rovner’s artworks.
